IN-PRESSIONES
21 E + PAPERS
curated by Marcello Palminteri
November 26, 2021 - January 30, 2022
A selection of graphic works from the second half of the 20th century to the present, united by an "abstract line" and representing an important trajectory of artistic research. The exhibition offers a meaningful snapshot of a trend that has reshaped the collective way of "seeing."
The show includes works by Carla Accardi, Rodolfo Aricò, Agostino Bonalumi, Alberto Burri, Enrico Castellani, Pietro Consagra, Tony Cragg, Annalaura di Luggo, Piero Dorazio, Sergio Fermariello, Horacio Garcia Rossi, Gianfranco Pardi, Pino Pinelli, Toti Scialoja, Turi Simeti, Ettore Sordini, Marco Tirelli, Giulio Turcato, Cy Twombly, Giuseppe Uncini, and Arturo Vermi.
As Marcello Palminteri writes, the works on display present a form of synthesis that reveals the essence of the image, creating a method of research that distinguishes itself from drawing and painting, yet remains connected. Printmaking is a parallel "practice" that follows the same "ritual" of creation, embracing a creative craftsmanship made of exchanges, of "impressions" that are both human and technical. In this way, each piece reaches its completion, and the transfer from matrix to paper—the "impression"—becomes the maturation of both gesture and thought. Thus, technique and imagination run on parallel tracks, and the ability to reproduce the work enhances the social role of art.
