ALPHABETA
curated by Francesco Gallo Mazzeo
December 5, 2019 - January 30, 2020
Twelve works on paper created for the art book that gives the exhibition its title, made by twelve artists: Achille Pace, Gianni Asdrubali, Annalaura di Luggo, Claudio Bianchi, Nino De Luca, Corrado Delfini, Pippo Altomare, Salvatore Dominelli, Michele De Luca, Paolo Gubinelli, Salvatore Pupillo, Gianfranco Notargiacomo.
AlphaBeta is a linguistic invention, an imaginary discovery that speaks through both words and colors, constantly searching, like a laboratory experiment, for an alchemy that transforms desires into reality, mercury into gold. Twelve texts playfully mirror twelve splashes of color, following each other with an eager curiosity, carefully exploring connections, even as they move from beauty to the sublime. It’s a game, but a serious one, where lightness, transparency, softness, and sometimes a mark, point toward the possibility of a goal, a place to rest before starting again—to see the unseen, say the unsaid, and chase the secrets of the invisible, guided by that thread of Ariadne we each carry with us.
