NAPOLI EDEN
ANNALAURA DI LUGGO
Catalogue presentation
curated by Francesco Gallo Mazzeo
4 APRIL 2019
Annalaura di Luggo's artistic research is oriented towards the realisation of works that modify the perception of space and the coordinates of reality, through the use of different techniques and materials that, from photography to video, from sculpture to installation, capture the observer to make him interactively participate. Napoli Eden by Annalaura di Luggo, realised with the support of Cial (Consorzio Imballaggi alluminio), with the patronage of the City of Naples and the technical direction of Luca Pasquarella, was a diffuse site-specific work realised in four squares of the city of Naples, exhibited from December 2018 to 18 January 2019. A hypothesis of an ‘artistic garden’ realised with the help of waste materials (recycled aluminium elements) that through the language of art become a symbol of redemption. The project, which among other things inspired the soon-to-be-released film of the same name (directed by Bruno Colella and with music by Eugenio Bennato), is now historicised in an elegant volume published by Jus Museum and Giannini Editore and presented at the Jus Museum. Edited by Francesco Gallo Mazzeo, the volume Napoli Eden bears witness, with texts and photos, to Annalaura di Luggo's project: the installations, the preparatory stages, the collaborations, the related events.
The catalogue is presented by curator Francesco Gallo Mazzeo - preceded by speeches by the Superintendent of the Cultural Heritage of the City of Naples Arch. Luciano Garella, Councillors Alessandra Clemente and Ciro Borriello, Gennaro Galdo, Cial Communication Office, costume designer Graziella Pera and director Bruno Colella - who testified to the brilliant path developed in collaboration with Annalaura di Luggo.
After the presentation, the multimedia installation Napoli Eden inside Pluribus will be activated, a cube of mirrors housing four monitors and a sound system. The video will immerse the viewer in a unique visual and sound experience to retrace the artist's process, from the scouting of materials to the finished works.
